Schnepf Farm Wedding

Angelica and Stephen shared their vows in front of their family, friends and daughters at Schnepf Farm in front of the Big Red Barn. Their gorgeous wedding fused the Vaquero Mexican Cowboy look with modern sleek all black suits. They incorporated loved ones no longer on earth and they celebrated with traditional Mexican experiences including all the men forming a circle around the bride linking arms, to show his dedication to getting to his new bride, Stephen had to break through the circle to get to his new bride. The men put up a fight but eventually he did persevere and get through to her. They also included the dollar dance which is becoming less popular with venmo and zelle but thankfully someone had some ones on them and threw those all over the dance floor. It’s always an honor to witness any love story but hearing Angelica’s daughters give a speech to their new (officially) dad brought tears to all of our eyes. Congratulations to the happy couple and many more years of love and celebration to this fam.

β€œEl muertito,” is a Mexican wedding tradition where all of the men throw the groom into the air.

Sometimes during this time, the groom’s shoes are removed and guests stuff gifts into his pockets.

I love the idea that his shoes are often passed around for the guests to fill with money. They didn’t remove his shoes at this wedding but they did toss him up in the air much to Angelica’s distress. And, while the experience is a common one at Mexican weddings, I wasn’t able to find a lot of information on the significance of el muertito or where it originated.
