Newspaper Creative Family Session

I wanted to try something new for this family session. Mom is an award winning writer, so I knew I wanted it to connect to journalism and words. I think this vintage yet modern newspaper session captures the family perfectly. Dad looks like a classic hollywood movie star, teen boys look like punk rock stars and mama is just stunning with her heels and rockabilly vibes. I love playing with double exposure and minimal props. The only supplies I brought were my backdrop which failed me in the wind anyway and a metal milk crate for creating some levels with the portraits. I ended up building the whole newspaper backdrop with my 12 year old daughter in the wind, and just taping it directly to the wall because everything was unusually windy! Thankfully, I had a variety of tape - we used 3M blue painters tape and I color adjusted so it wasn’t that color in any of the finished images, I definiately would do this background again if I could do it inside somewhere or on a less textured wall - though I love the look of the desert plants and exposed brick coming through.

This session was a 30 minute Creative Session which means I make all the rules, family wears what I request and it’s a collaborative vision. If you’re interested in participating in a creative session just inquire here! Let’s get wild.
