Ahwatukee Sunset Wedding | Why Every Ceremony Deserves a Photographer Photography by Wedding Photographer, Jennifer Lind Schutsky

A & Q’s Wedding at Ahwatukee Community Center

Not every wedding needs to be a grand affair to be meaningful. Recently, I had the honor of photographing a beautiful sunset ceremony at the Ahwatukee Community Swim, Tennis & Event Center, and it was the perfect reminder that love — no matter the size of the celebration — deserves to be captured.

This intimate wedding was filled with heartfelt moments: laughter, quiet tears, and the golden Arizona sun dipping behind the mountains as the couple said their vows. What made it even more special was the simplicity — close friends, family, and genuine joy. It’s easy to think that small weddings don’t need a professional photographer, but those are often the moments you’ll treasure most.

Even if it’s a second or third marriage, or a short ceremony, it’s still your story — and photography helps those memories last far longer than the event itself. It’s not just about the couple; it’s about the people who show up to celebrate you, the hugs, the laughter, and the unposed moments that truly matter.

For couples planning smaller weddings or elopements, most photographers (myself included) offer hourly or event-based rates rather than full wedding packages. My current event rate is $300 per hour, which allows me to show up, document your day as it unfolds, and focus on candid, emotional storytelling rather than heavy posing or editing. This “observational” approach is perfect for intimate ceremonies — real moments, captured beautifully.

Whether your wedding is an hour-long ceremony or a full-day celebration, those memories deserve to be preserved. Because one day, you’ll want to look back and remember not just how it looked — but how it felt.
