Winter in the desert doesn’t have to mean neutrals and dry brush. For Sheylyn and Fred’s December celebration at Lindsey Grove, the atmosphere was thick with moody romance, unconventional style, and deeply intentional details.
The photography coverage of the day started quietly indoors. Capturing the raw anticipation of getting ready with her mom, sister and friends set a grounded, intimate tone for what was to come.
Outside, the venue’s classic structure met sharp, artistic contrasts. Thousands of delicate paper cranes hung in flawless geometric rows, a stunning design choice showcased in the images below. The reception layout and design paired crisp white linens with rich, deep-toned runners that matched the winter dusk and a touch of whimsey in the couple’s love for Disney, each table had a fast pass or ticket for a favorite Disney ride for the table centerpieces. They also created the perfect program that looked like a Disney brochure with their love story details (on the chairs for the ceremony for guests)
As the sun dipped, the editorial energy took over. Sheylyn stood against the twilight in a striking off-the-shoulder gown and a pearl-flecked veil that caught the low Mesa wind. The weather was perfect for wedding party and family portraits so we captured lots of group shots and candids during cocktail hour and reception.
Instead of a stiff, posed reception, the energy shifted into motion. The couple cut loose on the stone patio, their first dance was captured in my signature gritty, high-contrast black and white style image (below). The night wrapped up with guests swirling ribbon wands beneath the patio lights, that proved your wedding day can be deeply romantic while keeping your wedding day truly your own.
