Your Guide to an ASU Graduation Photo Session | Phoenix & Tempe Senior Photographer; Jennifer Lind Schutsky

Best ASU Graduation Photo Locations in Tempe, AZ 👇🏾

If you are planning on taking your graduation photos at the ASU campus in Tempe, you're gonna want to make sure you choose a timeframe that is a little bit more forgiving. Meaning this space gets extremely full with a lot of other photographers and people at sunset so if you have a means, and you can go early early morning, that would be a better backdrop for your images and if you are not scared of shooting a direct sun, that's also a nice option.

Plenty of photographers can bring their flash to help balance the lighting if you're afraid of shadows or just unforgiven light that comes with full daytime sun. However, we photograph the session with minimal impact on our backgrounds, and it did take some Photoshop, which I don't love using AI for any of my photographs, but in the specific instance where there's a lot of people in the background I did take a few of these images and clean them up as best I could utilizing the generative fill tool in Photoshop.

Tips from a Phoenix Senior Portrait Photographer

I also encouraged our graduate to choose a couple other locations that sounded fun and areas that they would actually hang out and you don't wanna take all your photos just on campus in the exact same background even though that's nice for your photos that you're sending to family and friends to show like look I really did go to school here. No, you wanna have something that also expresses you and what you like to do and how you like to dress so we did two sessions pretty much in one and that's how I like to do my senior sessions and in general a lot of my sessions, giving people options you know bring another change of clothes or something simple that you can really get the best out of your time.

And I encourage a lot of different posing, bringing a hype girl or hype guy with you, that is also going to help you make sure that you feel confident someone that you feel comfortable with obviously as your photographer that's my goal as well, but it is always helpful to have somebody else that can help gather your clothes or hold your water and just be there for you for your emotional support human. I really really enjoyed taking all of these photos.

We had so much fun both with my graduate and with her friend too also tagged along and just gave her the best advice as we were posing and making sure that I'm focused on lighting and framing, and that friend was focused on making sure each little element of her outfit was perfect and how she would want it.

They know your face BEST. They know how you like your hair normally all those little details that someone who knows you well is gonna be able to capture even though your photographer is doing their job to get those things correct there's just something else about having another person there that just makes the whole experience feel good and fun!
