What You Need To Know About the Getting Ready Portion of your Wedding Day!

Here’s a Peek at my process along with all my favorite images of the ‘Getting Ready” portion of the day.

I know so many people think this part isn’t important with their wedding photography - or at least a lot of people tend to cut this time short. However I can not stress the importance of this time of day because it’s the time when you’re loved ones are in their most authentic reality.

They are excited, nervous, stressed and happy for you!! It’s a good time to see the human experience and emotions. The real ones, not just the posed formal images from later in the day.

I also love this time of the day because oftentimes the couple opts to get ready separately and there is a sacred anticipation that is in the air.

People want to prepare and get ready for that exciting moment.

I find this time of the day to be a good moment to get the sentimental portion of the parents and friends and I don’t want to rush this part of the day.

I often do details during this time as well.

If you want the low stress version of this experience I suggest at least 2 hours for the getting ready portion with about a half hour of details built into the timeline for the day.
