Vibrant Mexican Heritage Wedding at a Catholic Church in Buckeye, Arizona | A & R
I am literally obsessed with the timeless beauty of weddings that honor deep-rooted family traditions and cultural heritage. A & R’s stunning celebration in Buckeye, Arizona, was an example of the testament to love, faith, and family. As a Phoenix based and occasionally West Valley wedding photographer, capturing their traditional Catholic wedding mass paired with vibrant Mexican heritage details was an absolute honor. From the intricate lace details of the bridal gown in her mother’s bedroom to the moments of the couple post wedding and the bride’s flowing against the desert sky to the rich, sentimental moments shared during the ceremony, every second of this Buckeye wedding was unforgettable.
One of my favorite parts of a traditional, Mexican Catholic wedding are all of the religious relics and details. For example, this bride's beautiful veil in the sun with the gold rings and her gold embossed Bible just really brought together the whole experience of what it means to have a catholic wedding and I had so much fun creating a visual flatly of her details. I took the photos in full sun to capture the bright light off the arras or wedding coins which are used during the ceremony to symbolize a financially, prosperous marriage.
When we arrived at the groom's getting ready location. He was already dressed in his all black suit, and just had to put the finishing touches on one of my favorite moments from the ceremony was seen all of the men dressed in their suits, specifically the groom with his grandfather. You can see below one of my favorite images of the day was the groom posing proudly with his grandfather or father in front of the hand-painted Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (Our Lady of Guadalupe) tile mural. It’s just so iconic and timeless, and I am always on the hunt for the balance of trending yet timeless, something that feels edgy and modern yet iconically historic. That image really cultivated that for me at this wedding. (below)
The other beautiful part of the Catholic weddings are the artwork inside the church. It was so pretty to capture the prominent cross archway where the bride paused for her elegant and formal full-length bridal portrait, showcasing her dramatic, cathedral-length lace train.
